The work lives in your systems; the assistant doesn’t. So somebody spends the day copying things in and copying answers back out — or connects their own accounts without asking IT.

The brief, the format, the house style — you go through it all again each time, and the result depends on who asked. If one person figures out a good way of doing it, it stays with them.

When a job is done well, the way it was done gets saved. The whole fleet then runs it the same way every time — and once a quarter, at the Quarterly Count, we decide together what to improve.

Shift 4 of 7 · Agency
AI assistant
An assistant works while someone sits with it. Close the laptop and everything stops until you’re back. Yes, you can schedule a reminder — but a reminder isn’t the job getting done.
What an AI fleet does instead
Jobs run on a schedule, on a timer, or when something arrives — overnight if that’s when the work suits. In the morning there’s a short report: what ran, what came of it, and what’s waiting on you.

Shift 5 of 7 · Governance
AI assistant
There are settings, even approval buttons — but each person sets their own. What it sees, what it's connected to, what gets approved: decided one keyboard at a time, and the firm has no say and very little oversight.

Each agent gets one job and only the access that job needs — set once, for the firm, not per person. Anything leaving the firm waits for a person's approval, and your IT people can see the whole arrangement.

Chat history isn't an audit trail. Nobody can say afterwards what was shared, or what the answer was based on — and IT has no way to check.

An assistant answers you itself. Even the newer tools that can send out helpers for a job — the helpers vanish when the sitting ends. Nothing keeps a role, a duty, or a memory of its own.
